Doula Birthwork
What does a Doula do?
A doula provides non-medical emotional, physical, and informational support during major reproductive experiences, most commonly pregnancy, birth, and the postpartum period. Unlike a midwife, nurse, or OB-GYN, a doula generally doesn't diagnose, perform medical procedures, or make clinical decisions.
For a birth doula, the work often begins prenatally by helping someone think through birth preferences, prepare emotionally, understand common interventions, and develop comfort strategies. During labor, the doula stays with the birthing person and may provide massage, counter-pressure, positioning, breathing or relaxation guidance, reassurance, and help communicating questions or preferences to the medical team. They also support the partner rather than replacing them.
Packages & Care
We customize your care package. Standard care is phone check-ins after each caregiver appointment and on-call during weeks 37-41. Standard birth doula care is 2-3 in-home visits perinatal, labor & delivery, and 2 postpartum visits. I stay with you up to 2-3 hours after birth for breastfeeding and other household support.
Credentials & Experience
I am a DONA-trained doula in my certification process. My first birth was a home birth. With over two decades of therapeutic coaching, mental health training (Masters of Social Work), pelvic bodywork certifications, and being a mom myself, I find my skill set and artistry to be a perfect match for supporting birth work, especially in the “stay at home” model of birthing.
If you know astrology, I am a 4-planet, sun-sign Virgo. Organization and details are my specialty. I care for systems in their interwoven state. During your birth, you can focus on your body and baby while I monitor, report, and guide all the moving parts into harmony around you, including Dad! This harmony supports everyone to have a more easeful and joyful birth.
